Christopher Dell DRA

Typology

 

This recording is the live version of DRA’s second program. It was preceded by a studio recording, published as “Truth Study” as enw 003. In that sense it is the manifestation of the constant new-working of compositional material that is the core of DRA. One might even claim that DRA was the first ensemble to bring the theme “research” discursively on the table in the contemporary jazz scene. DRA was and is famous for rehearsing, researching a lot but performing only rarely in public. Along these lines one can label DRA as  discursive laboratory ensemble. Later on the system of a live recording following up a studio version was continued with DRA’s second program and the publications “Truth Study” (studio) and Typology” (live), also released on enw.
